Sharmistha Mukherjee, daughter of the country's former President late Pranab Mukherjee, has written a book on her father 'In Pranab, My Father: A Daughter Remembers'. This book is to be officially released on December 11, but some of its chapters have been mentioned by Sharmistha. In the book, Sharmistha Mukherjee has detailed the illustrious life of Pranab Mukherjee as well as her father's diary entries and his personal conversations and political anecdotes have also been made public. Many sweet and interesting relationships between the Gandhi family and Pranab Mukherjee have also been mentioned in the book. The book also mentions the political crisis that arose after the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1984. Sharmistha wrote that Pranab Mukherjee remained the President of the country till 2017. He died three years after his term ended. He remained politically active till his last days. ​
