The 54th International Film Festival of India held in Goa from 20th to 28th November.

British film "Catching Dust" opened the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa on November 20, while American film "The Featherweight" will be the closing title. Hollywood actor Michael Douglas was invited to participate in the eight-day annual festival organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Fifteen entries (12 international, three Indian) are in line for the Golden Peacock, which is awarded to the best film and carries a cash prize of Rs 40 lakh. Indian films include the Kannada film Kantara, the Hindi film Sana and the Karbi language film Mirabeen. These include the Bengali films "Vidyapati" (1937) and "Chorus" (1974), Marathi film "Shyamchi Aai" (1953), Telugu film "Patal Bhairavi" (1951), Hindi film "Haqeeqat" (1964). The ministry said a total of 20 films from 11 countries have been selected for the film bazaar, which was held at the Marriott Resort in Goa from November 20 to 24. For visually impaired people, the movies “Sirf Ek Banda Kafi Hai” and “Shershaah” were made available with embedded audio description. The films "83" and "Bhaag Mikha Bhaag" will have built-in sign language for the hearing impaired.
