The US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) on Wednesday pledged US$30 million to Dalmia Polypro Industries to build a plastic recycling facility in Maharashtra. DFC, which produces high quality recycled materials, will raise funds through the external commercial borrowing (ECB) route to finance the new recycling facility in Nashik. Ajay Rao, DFC's regional managing director for South Asia, said the new facility will help India recycle plastic waste. Will support value chain improvements and expand capacity to reduce plastic waste. The facility will have a recycling capacity of 1,71,000 metric tons per year, and will provide Dalmia Polypro with food-grade recycling materials and applications, the statement said. The facility will produce high quality recycled PET (RPET), PP (RPP) and HDPE (RHDPE) flakes and granules and will be partially powered by renewable energy and biofuels.
