The latest round of FICCI's Economic Outlook Survey estimates annual average GDP growth for the year 2023-24 at 6.3 per cent - with the minimum and maximum growth projections being 6 per cent and 6.6 per cent respectively. The survey results showed that the average GDP growth in the quarters ended September 30 and December 31 is estimated at 6.1 percent and 6.7 percent. The survey said that after a four-quarter high growth of 7.8 per cent in the first quarter of 2023-24, some moderation may be seen in the next quarters. On an aggregate basis, GDP growth in 2023-24 is expected to be lower than the 7.2 per cent growth seen in 2022-23. According to the survey, persistent headwinds due to geopolitical tensions, slower growth in China, lagging impact of monetary tightening, below-normal monsoon pose downside risks to growth.
