Important Days

Indian Navy Day is celebrated every year on 4 December to recognize the role and achievements of the Indian Navy. This date holds historical significance as it commemorates 'Operation Trident' during the Indo-Pak war of 1971. This year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Navy Day celebrations in Sindhudurg, Maharashtra, where the naval forces conducted an operational display. This year's theme is "Operational Efficiency, Readiness and Mission Achievement in the Maritime Domain". Last year's theme was "Golden Vijay Varsh" to commemorate 50 years of India's victory in the India-Pakistan war in 1971. On this day, ceremonies and events take place at naval bases and establishments across the country. The ceremony includes impressive parades, operational demonstrations and display of naval capabilities, technical strength and strategic preparedness of the Navy. Navy Day also serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by naval personnel to maintain the country's maritime interests and defend against potential threats.
