Himachal Pradesh has become the first Indian state to develop a DNA database for unidentified bodies.

Himachal Pradesh has become the first Indian state to develop a DNA database for unidentified bodies. The process of creating this database had started in April 2022. So far, the database holds records of 150 DNA samples of unidentified bodies. The database with DNA details will help massively in such cases, Assistant Director (DNA). The Directorate of Forensics Services, Junga had procured DNA profile databasing and matching technology (Smallpond TM software from USA) at a price of Rs55 lakh in 2022. It has a capacity of about 20,000 DNA profiles which can be scaled further.


     

      The process of creating this database had started in April 2022.
