The Ministry of Environment has launched programs to reward environmental stewardship and promote environmentally conscious consumer choices in line with sustainability development goals. To promote sustainability and promote eco-friendly practices across the country, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change unveiled two pioneering initiatives under the LiFE – Lifestyle for Environment program launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2021 Is. Notified on October 13, 2023, the Green Credit Program (GCP) is a state-of-the-art, market-driven solution that aims to incentivize voluntary environmental actions. This transformative mechanism enables active participation of various stakeholders spanning individuals, communities, private sector industries and corporations.
