Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)-National Institute of Pathology, New Delhi has launched the Diagnostic Services in Healthcare (DISHA) portal to help the public access the nearest clinical health facilities towards ensuring early detection and proactive management. The Indian clinical healthcare system is vast and complex with multiple stakeholders, and heterogeneously distributed across different geographical areas. The government has set guidelines for the operation and quality of diagnostic public health facilities, however, there is no information about the availability of tests, their cost and infrastructure to measure effective utilization of health services in the country. The benefits of mapping clinical health facilities include reducing disparity in availability of clinical services between different geographical locations and population density, removing barriers to seeking and receiving health care, utilization of infrastructure and manpower under equipped facilities.
