Badis limacumi: New species of Badis fish discovered from Nagaland This newly discovered fish can change its color like a chameleon

Scientists have recently discovered a new species of fish from Milak river in Nagaland. The newly discovered species Badis limakumi is named after Limakumi, assistant professor and head of the department of zoology at Fazal Ali College, Nagaland. The new species, discovered in Mokokchung district of the state, has a distinctive opercular blotch (a series of bones that acts as a supporting structure for the face and a protective covering for the gills). In this species, the spots on the sides and scales of the cleithrum (a membranous bone) and the upper lateral line are absent.
