Scientists and engineers across the country celebrate Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day on 8 October which is appropriate for hydrogen's atomic weight (1.008). Hydrogen and fuel cells are used in many sectors for transportation, stationary power and industrial applications, enabling energy security, flexibility and a strong domestic economy in emerging technologies. On the eve of World Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day, the Government of India organized a half-day event to explore and harness the unlimited potential of hydrogen as a source of green and sustainable energy. Hydrogen experts from industry, academia and government came together at the event organized by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in collaboration with Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited in New Delhi on October 7, 2023.
