Services top for the fourth consecutive time in 36th National Games 2022.

The 2022 National Games of India, also known as the 36th National Games of India and informally as Gujarat 2022, was the 36th edition of the National Games of India and was held in Gujarat between 29 September and 12 October 2022. Gujarat hosted the National Games for the first time in 2022. The National Games 2022 was held across 6 cities, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Bhavnagar, in Gujarat. The Services team’s won 61 Gold, 35 Silver and 32 Bronze medals and they finished at the top of the medals tally. In the finest traditions of the Armed Forces, the Services team, under the aegis of Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) became the proud winners of the Raja Bhalindra Singh Trophy. This is the 4th consecutive overall championship trophy win for the Services at the National Games. Maharashtra bagged the Indian Olympic Association's Best State trophy for finishing second in the medals tally with the most medals amongst States and UTs. Honourable Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel presented the Best Male Athlete to Sajan Prakash (5 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze). This was Sajan Prakash's second successive honour. Karnataka's Hashika Ramchandra appropriated the Best Female Athlete crown with 6 gold and 1 bronze. Gujarat’s 10-year-old Shauryajit Khaire (Mallakhamb) emerged as the ‘viral star’ of the Games, becoming its youngest medal winner. Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala took the 4th, 5th and 6th places respectively on the medal table. Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Manipur finished with 20 gold each.
