Meghalaya launches ‘Food Security’ campaign to achieve zero hunger

Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs launches 'Food Security' campaign with an aim to sensitize the public about the National Food Security Act (NFSA) 2013 and strive to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 2 – 'Zero Hunger' Did. A launch ceremony was held at the Shillong Press Club attended by Minister-in-charge Komingon Yambon. Yambon said the campaign will reach out to key stakeholders, community-based institutions, general public and various people across the state and citizens of the state. The department will create awareness to understand the facilities required to ensure that the poorest of the poor have access to food grains. He said the department will also work to communicate with the department's work areas and the public on relevant matters related to the provisions of the NFSA. Is exploring the use of social, mainstream and community-based media to implement a hyper-local approach, there is also a need to streamline registration and services. With this, the ration card holding family will be able to get maximum benefits from the department.
