The Uttar Pradesh government has earmarked 2,350 acres of land to set up a mega drug park as part of its ambitious bid to boost manufacturing and make the state a market leader in the production of pharmaceuticals and medical devices. The proposed manufacturing park is located in Lalitpur, it will be built in Pilibhit and Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida) districts. UP has signed MoUs with more than 80 CSIR and DRDO laboratories for research and development on affordable medicines. The 2,000-acre Lalitpur Park is a major project of the government. It will be dedicated to bulk drugs, starting from raw materials and active pharmaceuticals, under the new pharma policy of the state. The state has contracted with Adani Gas to supply piped natural gas to this park. The domestic pharmaceutical industry, valued at $42 billion in 2021, is projected to reach $130 billion by 2030. Pharma shipments from India, which ranks among the top three globally in drug production by volume, are valued at $25 billion. ​
