Important Days
Every year on 25 October the world celebrates International Dwarf Awareness Day. The day is dedicated to raising awareness about achondroplasia, a bone development disorder that results in dwarfism. The day is an annual event aimed at educating the public about the unique challenges faced by individuals with achondroplasia and dwarfism. It is a day of solidarity, support and advocacy for those affected by this condition. The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPWD), operating under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, plays an important role in celebrating World Dwarf Day. On this special day, many events are organized at more than 20 places across the country to increase awareness and knowledge. Persons with dwarfism are given the opportunity to share their experiences and stories. These interviews provide information about their daily lives and struggles, fostering empathy and community support.
