India will host the World Telecommunications Standardization Assembly in 2024 which is an important step towards the progress of 5G and 6G networks.

Union Communications and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said in New Delhi that India is going to host the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA) next year, which is a step towards moving forward in 5G and 6G networks. Held every four years, the World Telecommunications Standardization Assembly (WTSA) is the governing conference of the ITU Standardization Sector (ITU-T), one of the three world conferences of the International Telecommunication Union and thus of the United Nations system. Amid lack of internet connection in many parts of the country, especially in remote areas, Minister Vaishnav said, 'Today, India is a developer, exporter and leader in the technology department.' Meanwhile, International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Secretary General Vaishnav and Haulin Zhao signed the Host Country Agreement (HCA) for the establishment of an ITU Regional Office and Innovation Center in New Delhi on March 3, 2022. ​
