Red Bull's Max Verstappen won an entertaining Las Vegas Grand Prix in the final round of the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship. Verstappen overcame a 5s penalty to beat Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez. Verstappen overtook Leclerc at the first corner, angering Polviner and giving him a 5s penalty, but he kept his track position ahead in the early stages. Leclerc passed Verstappen just before his first pitstop, while Pérez passed Verstappen at the first corner. His run through the field after an early pitstop to replace his front wing following a collision was interrupted when Lando Norris of McLaren crashed fatally on lap three, and then Verstappen and Mercedes' George Russell crashed at the halfway mark. Pérez and Leclerc swapped places as Verstappen caught them. Verstappen then overtook them both to take his 18th win of the season. Pérez took second when Leclerc ran wide, but Leclerc overtook him on the final lap, denying Red Bull a 1–2.
