The International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists is a United Nations-recognized international day observed annually on 2 November.
Important Days
Ending impunity for crimes against journalists is one of the most important and complex challenges of recent times. This is a necessary precondition for guaranteeing freedom of expression and access to information for all citizens. The 2023 festival aims to raise awareness of the main challenges journalists and communicators face in the practice of their profession and the violence against them, and to warn of increasing repression, including attacks on the press and restrictions in the context of coverage of social protests. Are included; Use of the judicial machinery against journalists for reasons related to their journalistic work on matters of public interest; and an increase in the forced deportation of journalists in some countries. This year's theme aims to give visibility to the role of a safe and free press in ensuring elections and the integrity of our democratic systems.
