Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Kongkal Sangma launches 'Water Smart Kid Meghalaya' campaign and awards water guardians

Chief Minister Conrad Kongkal Sangma launched the “Water Smart Kids Meghalaya” school campaign, a key initiative under the Jal Jeevan Mission of the Jal Shakti Ministry. The primary goal of the campaign is to motivate children to take action on water conservation and protection of the state's water bodies. The aim of which is to develop them as water conservation ambassadors within their communities. Additionally, the Chief Minister recognized and honored “Jal Rakshaks”, including village and community members, who have made significant contributions to the conservation of water bodies. The recipients of this commendation were Lumshyap Village Water and Sanitation Committee (VWSC) in Ri Bhoi district, Darechikgre VWSC in West Garo Hills district and Dura Contragre VWSC in West Garo Hills district. These communities have actively participated in the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission. Chief Minister Sangma appreciated the tireless efforts of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHE) in Meghalaya and the entire team working on the Jal Jeevan Mission.
