Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman leaves for three-day visit to Sri Lanka and addresses 'NAAM 200' event

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman paid a three-day official visit to Sri Lanka to address 'NAM 200' and the India-Sri Lanka Business Summit. During his visit, he delivered the keynote address as the guest of honor at 'NAAM 200' organized by the Government of Sri Lanka to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the arrival of Indian Origin Tamils (IOTs) in the island nation on 2 November. Sitharaman also delivered the keynote address at the India Sri Lanka Business Summit on the theme 'Enhancing Connectivity: Partnership for Prosperity' jointly organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Indo-Lanka Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Ceylon Chamber. Her visit comes at a time when Sri Lanka is struggling to emerge from a financial crisis caused by a sharp depletion of foreign exchange reserves last year, its worst since independence from Britain in 1948. Sitharaman Sri Dalada Maligawa ( Sacred Tooth in Kandy) The Union Finance Minister also visited the Lanka IOC Oil Tank Farm, Jaffna Cultural Center and Jaffna Public Library during his visit.
