Veteran Gujarati photojournalist Padmashree Javerilal Mehta passed away at the age of 96.

Veteran photojournalist, Padmashree Javerilal Mehta passed away. He was 96 years old. He died at the residence of his daughter Kanan Joshi due to age related illness. Jhaverilal, a resident of Halvad in Surendranagar district of Saurashtra, worked as a leading photojournalist with Gujarat Samachar since the 1970s. He was deputed to the national capital New Delhi as a photojournalist. Late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi used to tie Rakhi to Javerilal. Zaverilal, known for his Kishore Kumar-like styling, was praised not only for his photo but also for the photo lines in which he expressed his views on the image. Jhaverilal not only received several state level awards but also received the national honor Padmashree from the then President of India in 2018. His contribution to the field of photojournalism during his long career in the newspaper world will always be remembered.
