Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi has been appointed as the new Vice Chief of the Army Staff (VCOAS). He succeeds Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar. Prior to this, Lt Gen Dwivedi was serving as the Northern Army Commander. He has extensive operational experience along the borders with China and Pakistan.
