Science & Technology | Dated: 03/Jan/2026

ISRO announced that India's first solar observatory mission, Aditya-L1, has successfully performed the final maneuver to enter the Halo Orbit around the Lagrange Point 1 (L1). The spacecraft is now positioned approximately 1.5 million km from Earth, where it will observe the Sun continuously without any eclipses.

🎯 Key Highlights:

  • The insertion involved a precise firing of control engines for a short duration.
  • It carries seven payloads to study the photosphere, chromosphere, and the outermost layers of the Sun (corona).
  • This achievement makes India one of the few nations to station a spacecraft at L1.

💡 Other Important Facts:

  • Mission: Aditya-L1.
  • Destination: Lagrange Point 1 (L1).
  • Objective: Solar Observation.
