India has officially ratified the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) new global agreement to cut greenhouse gas emissions from international shipping. This agreement, often termed the "Paris Agreement of Shipping," aims to achieve net-zero emissions from the sector by around 2050. As one of the largest maritime nations and a major flag state, India's ratification is a crucial step towards the agreement's entry into force. The ratification aligns with India's "Panchamrit" commitment and its push for Green Ports and Green Shipping, demonstrating its leadership in decarbonizing the global maritime industry while safeguarding its national trade interests.
