The Indian Railways has introduced a new artificial intelligence-based Locking Monitoring System named 'DRISHTI' (Digital Rail Integrity and Security Tracking Initiative) to enhance the security and integrity of freight train operations. This AI system automates the inspection and monitoring of the locking mechanisms of freight rakes, reducing the traditionally manual, time-consuming, and often impractical checks for long-haul trains. DRISHTI uses computer vision and deep learning to instantly detect tampering or failure of locks, improving operational efficiency and significantly preventing theft and accidents.
