Senior IPS officer Alok Sharma was appointed as the new Director-General (DG) of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on November 1, 2025. The appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). Sharma, a 1991-batch IPS officer, will succeed the incumbent DG, Dinkar Gupta.
