UN International Day of Deaf 2025 Observed on September 28.

The United Nations (UN) observed the International Day of Deaf on September 28, 2025, to support the global deaf community. The day aims to raise awareness of the challenges deaf individuals face daily while advocating for their rights and the need for inclusive and safe spaces in society.

      - The International Day of Deaf falls on the last Sunday of September each year and coincides with the International Day of Sign Languages. In 2025, it is observed during the International Week of Deaf People from September 22 to 28, emphasizing global solidarity and recognition of deaf culture.

      - The day traces its roots to the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD), founded in 1951, which works to promote equality, accessibility, and better living conditions for deaf communities worldwide.

      - The first official celebration of World Deaf Day was held in 1958 by WFD. Since then, it has been observed annually to create awareness, highlight the achievements of deaf individuals, and advocate for inclusive policies in education, employment, and communication.

Main Point :-   (i) The day is significant for raising awareness about deaf culture, promoting understanding of the challenges faced by deaf people, and advocating for their rights.

      (iii) It underscores the importance of access to sign language, education, healthcare, and other social resources necessary for full participation in society.

(iii) A global symbol representing the deaf community is the Deaf Flag, designed by artist Arnaud Balard. The flag features a blue field symbolizing the community, yellow for life, and dark blue for the planet. It was introduced by WFD to provide a unifying emblem for deaf people worldwide.
