Tata Motors has recently appointed Shailesh Chandra as its new Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective October 1, 2025, to lead passenger vehicles and electric mobility divisions amid strategic restructuring.


      - Shailesh Chandra’s appointment is part of Tata Motors’ leadership reshuffle following the demerger of its commercial vehicle business into Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles Ltd (TMLCV) from October 1, 2025.

      - Girish Wagh will head TMLCV as MD & CEO, while Dhiman Gupta becomes Tata Motors’ CFO, succeeding P.B. Balaji, who will move to Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) as CEO on November 17, 2025.

      - Chandra is expected to drive Tata Motors’ focus on electric vehicles (EVs), strengthening the EV portfolio, including the Nexon EV, and enhancing digital customer experience.

Main Point :-   (i) The leadership changes occur amid challenges like the recent cyberattack on JLR, affecting UK operations and supplier networks, making stabilization and operational efficiency a priority.

      (ii) Analysts view the appointment positively, highlighting Tata Motors’ commitment to innovation, sustainable transport, and growth in the EV market.
