Assam BJP leader Prodyut Bora quits party, brings Modi in line of fire

In a first such move, Assam Friday launched a clean district ranking drive called MODI (Most Outstanding District Initiative), to boost solid waste management and sanitation.Shortly after the cabinet approved the new scheme, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the most outstanding district will be awarded Rs 100 crore towards infrastructure development and the results will be tentatively declared by the first week of April 2024."There will be a whole lot of criteria, 108 to be precise, including cleanliness, legacy waste disposal, Bora questioned if Modi has "damaged" the democratic tradition of the country. "Today, the Foreign Minister barely knows that the Foreign Secretary is about to get fired; cabinet ministers cannot even appoint their own OSDs (Officers on Special Duty); and power is increasingly being centralised in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
