Launch of Third MCA Barge, LSAM 9 (Yard 77) at M/s SECON Engineering Projects Pvt Ltd, Visakhapatnam

The third Missile cum Ammunition Barge, Yard 77 (LSAM 9) was launched on 22 September 2023 by Commander G Ravi, Superintendent of Warship Production (Visakhapatnam) at Guttenadevi, East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh (launch site of M/s SECON). With all major and supporting equipment/systems sourced from indigenous manufacturers, this barge is the proud flag bearer of the Make in India initiative of the Ministry of Defence. In line with the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative of the Government of India, contract was concluded with MSME, M/s SECON Engineering Projects Pvt. Ltd., Visakhapatnam for manufacturing and delivery of 08 X Missile cum Ammunition Barges. The availability of MCA barges will accelerate IN's operational commitments by facilitating transportation, embarkation and disembarkation of goods/ammunition at wharves and outlying ports for Indian Naval ships.
