Rajgir Sports Academy in Bihar Earns Asian Hockey Federation Affiliation with FIH Support.

In September 2025, the Rajgir Sports Academy, part of the Rajgir Sports Complex in Nalanda district, Bihar, received official affiliation from the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) with the support of the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The announcement was made by FIH President Tayyab Ikram during the event “Grassroots to Glory” held in Rajgir, Bihar.
- The affiliation of Rajgir Sports Academy with AHF marks a major milestone for Bihar, positioning the state as an emerging hub for world-class hockey tournaments, coaching, and international athlete training in eastern India.
- The Rajgir Sports Academy is the first full-fledged sports academy of Bihar, located within the 90-acre Rajgir Sports Complex, which houses facilities for 22 different sports alongside the establishment of the Bihar Sports University.
- The academy trains athletes in over 24 sports disciplines, making it a multi-sport hub with a strong focus on hockey infrastructure, coaching standards, and youth development at both grassroots and elite levels.
Main Point :- (i) Rajgir Sports Complex has already hosted several prestigious events, including the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy (2024), the Khelo India Youth Games (2025), and the Men’s Asia Cup (2025), showcasing its readiness to conduct international tournaments.
(ii) With AHF affiliation, athletes and coaches from the academy will now gain access to training, certification programmes, and grassroots development initiatives conducted under the Asian Hockey Federation’s technical framework.
(iii) The academy will also benefit from technical expertise and support from AHF specialists, strengthening Bihar’s sports ecosystem and aligning its standards with global hockey development practices under the guidance of both AHF and FIH.
