The United Nations (UN) observed the 6th International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies on 7 September 2025 to raise awareness about the urgent need to reduce air pollution, the leading global environmental health risk. The 2025 theme was โ€œRacing for Air. Every Breath Matters.โ€


      - The UN General Assembly (UNGA) adopted Resolution 74/212 on 19 December 2019, designating 7 September each year as the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies.

      - The first observance of this international day took place on 7 September 2020, highlighting the global call for clean and healthy air.

      - The 2025 global event was jointly organized by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) on 5 September 2025 at the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC-BKK) in Bangkok, Thailand.

Main Point :-   (i) The Bangkok event was conducted in a hybrid format, bringing together governments, civil society, and experts to discuss innovative policies and practices to combat air pollution.

      (ii) Climate Week India 2025, aligned with the observance, is scheduled from 7โ€“14 September across 22 cities to promote nationwide community-led climate action.
