Union MoS Dr. Jitendra Singh Felicitates Indian Team for Winning 7 Medals at IESO-2025 in China.

On September 7, 2025, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Dr. Jitendra Singh, Ministry of Science and Technology (MoS&T), felicitated the Indian student team for their outstanding performance at the 18th International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO-2025) held in Jining, China.


      - The Indian team won a total of seven medals at IESO-2025, including 1 Gold, 4 Silver, and 2 Bronze medals.

      - Additionally, the team secured a 3rd prize in the International Geoscience Youth Movement (I-GYM) Reporter Category, highlighting both academic and scientific communication excellence.

      - Rayansh Gupta from Ludhiana (Punjab) achieved 1 Gold, 1 Silver, and the I-GYM 3rd prize. Charuvrat Bains from Kapurthala (Punjab) won 2 Silver and 1 Bronze. Apam Nidhi Pandey from Jaipur (Rajasthan) earned 1 Silver, while Priyanshi Ghanghas from Delhi secured 1 Bronze, representing a strong pan-India performance.

Main Point :-   (i) The International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO) is an annual global competition for secondary school students (Classes 9โ€“12). IESO-2025 was held from August 8โ€“16, 2025, in Jining, China, providing students with a platform to demonstrate expertise in earth sciences through theoretical and practical assessments.

      (ii) India has been participating in IESO since 2007 and previously hosted the 10th edition in 2013 at Mysore, Karnataka. The Olympiad itself was established in 2003 by the International Geoscience Education Organization (IGEO) to promote geoscience education and awareness among youth globally.

(iii) Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted the need to nurture young scientific talent and international collaboration, noting that the awards showcase Indiaโ€™s rising global presence in geosciences.
