On August 29, 2025, Union Minister of State (MoS) (Independent Charge) Prataprao Jadhav, Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) and MoS, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), presided over the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Healthcare Summit 2025 in New Delhi. The summit emphasized integrating traditional medicine with modern healthcare practices.
- The BRICS CCI Healthcare Summit 2025 was organized under the theme “Bridging Tradition and Innovation”, highlighting the importance of harmonizing traditional medicine systems like AYUSH with modern science.
- The event witnessed participation from key dignitaries, including Anurag Sharma, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), and Union MoS Ramdas Bandu Athawale, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE), who addressed healthcare challenges and collaborative solutions.
Main Point :- (i) A major focus of the summit was promoting BRICS-level cooperation, particularly in the areas of public-private partnerships, digital health innovations, nutraceutical research, and harmonized regulatory frameworks for traditional and alternative medicine products.
(ii) The Ministry of AYUSH presented its expanding global partnerships, noting that it has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with 25 countries, laying a strong foundation for international collaboration in AYUSH systems and enhancing India’s role as a global hub for traditional medicine.
(iii) By presiding over this healthcare summit, Prataprao Jadhav reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening healthcare diplomacy through BRICS, ensuring a balance of innovation, accessibility, and cultural heritage in healthcare delivery.
