Union Minister Amit Shah Concludes Two-Day Visit to Gujarat with Launch of Janrakshak Project and 112 Emergency Helpline.

Between August 30 and 31, 2025, Union Minister Amit Shah, currently serving as the Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation of India, carried out an impactful two-day visit to Ahmedabad and surrounding regions in Gujarat. This visit included participation in cultural events, public outreach, and inaugurations aimed at enhancing emergency services, infrastructure, and political groundwork.

      - Amit Shah arrived in Ahmedabad on the evening of August 30 and immediately attended two public Ganesh Mahotsav festivities in the Jodhpur and Vastrapur areas of the city. These appearances reinforced his connection with cultural traditions and its appeal to local constituents, highlighting the significance of grassroots outreach during the festive season.

      - On August 31, the Home Minister launched the “Janrakshak Project,” a major public safety initiative aimed at streamlining emergency response systems across the state by introducing the 112 unified helpline number. As part of this initiative, Shah flagged off 500 ‘Janrakshak’ vehicles, which are intended to deliver swift assistance during emergencies such as police, fire, and medical incidents.

      - The visit came on the heels of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent tour of Gujarat and coincides with internal discussions for a potential Cabinet reshuffle and installation of a new state BJP president. Analysts interpret Shah’s tour as part of broader election preparations, signaling strategic moves ahead of legislative elections in Gujarat.
