Indian weightlifting sensation Mirabai Chanu made a spectacular return to international competition by winning the gold medal in the women's 48 kg category at the 2025 Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in Ahmedabad.       - Competing in the newly introduced 48 kg weight class, Mirabai Chanu lifted a total of 193 kg—84 kg in the snatch and 109 kg in the clean and jerk. Her performance shattered the existing Commonwealth Championship records in all three categories: snatch, clean and jerk, and total lift .

      - This championship marked Mirabai's first appearance since the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she narrowly missed a medal. Her return to the podium in Ahmedabad was a testament to her resilience and dedication to the sport .
