Maharashtra Signs MoU with GIBC to Strengthen Business Partnership with UK and India.

On August 22, 2025, the Government of Maharashtra signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Global India Business Corridor (GIBC) to boost bilateral business cooperation between India and the United Kingdom (UK). The agreement was signed in Mumbai, Maharashtra, in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
- The MoU aims to strengthen cross-border business partnerships by promoting trade, investment, and innovation between Maharashtra and Europe, particularly the UK. GIBC will act as a key facilitator, creating new avenues of global economic collaboration.
- Under the agreement, GIBC will function as an extended arm of Maharashtra’s Industries Department in the UK and Europe, helping to attract investments and enabling technology transfers. The focus will be on enhancing Maharashtra’s role as a global economic hub through stronger international linkages.
Main Point :- (i) The partnership will target cooperation in high-potential sectors such as Banking & Finance, Infrastructure, Manufacturing, Technology, Renewable Energy (RE), Healthcare, and Education. By doing so, the MoU ensures seamless engagement for global businesses to collaborate with Maharashtra.
(ii) This initiative highlights Maharashtra’s long-term vision of positioning itself as a global investment destination by 2047.
(iii) Through the collaboration, both India and the UK aim to deepen economic ties, support industrial growth, and create sustainable opportunities for businesses and investors in key sectors.
