In August 2025, the Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department partnered with State Bank of India (SBI) Corporate Salary Package to provide accident insurance coverage of ₹3 lakh to ₹10 lakh to 8,500 Employment Guarantee Scheme staff—offered free of cost to safeguard them and their families.
- This landmark decision offers substantial financial reassurance to Employment Guarantee Scheme staff—engaged in rural development—by covering accidental injury or death. The insurance sum, determined by salary level, ranges from ₹3 lakh to ₹10 lakh, tailored to each beneficiary’s compensation tier.
- The scheme is enabled through an agreement with State Bank of India (SBI) under its Corporate Salary Package, ensuring seamless implementation and claim processing. By leveraging SBI’s infrastructure, the government ensures rapid, hassle-free access to insurance benefits at zero cost to staff.
Main Point :- (i) Approximately 8,500 employees under the Employment Guarantee Scheme across Andhra Pradesh are eligible for this coverage. This significant outreach reflects the government’s commitment to securing grassroots-level staff, especially those in high-risk field roles.
