National
In June 2025, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, Minister of Coal (MoC) and Minister of Mines (MoM), inaugurated ‘C CARES Version 2.0’, an upgraded web portal of the Dhanbad (Jharkhand)-based Coal Mines Provident Fund Organization (CMPFO), in New Delhi, Delhi.
- The advanced portal was developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Pune (Maharashtra), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
- This digital enhancement is part of the Government of India’s ‘Minimum Government, Maximum Governance’ vision under the Digital India initiative. It aims to enhance welfare, transparency, and convenience for coal sector workers and pensioners.
Main Point :- (i) Designed to simplify Provident Fund (PF) and pension processes, the portal links coal workers, companies, and CMPFO for real-time claim tracking, automated ledger updates, and seamless claim-to-disbursement processing—ensuring enhanced transparency and accountability.
(ii) Developed in partnership with State Bank of India (SBI), the platform facilitates Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) directly into member accounts, streamlining financial operations and improving efficiency.
(iii) Initially launched in five CMPFO regional offices, nationwide implementation across all regional offices is scheduled to be completed by July 1, 2025, under the Digital India initiative.
