India Highlights Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) as Global Model at 11th BRICS Communications Ministers' Meet.

In June 2025, Union Minister of State (MoS) Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, representing the Ministry of Communications and Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, participated in the 11th BRICS Communications Ministers' Meeting held in BrasĂ­lia, Brazil, to discuss global digital cooperation.


      - During the meeting, Dr. Sekhar showcased India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) as a global benchmark for inclusive digital governance, emphasizing India's achievements through initiatives like Aadhaar and UPI to strengthen digital identity and financial access for millions.

      - Dr. Pemmasani delivered India’s official statement aligning with the BRICS 2025 Presidency of Brazil, under the overarching theme of “Universal and Meaningful Connectivity, Space Sustainability, Environmental Sustainability, and the Digital Ecosystem.”

     

Main Point :-   (i) MoS Dr. Pemmasani emphasized India's DPI achievements, particularly flagship initiatives such as Aadhaar and Unified Payments Interface (UPI), which play a pivotal role in advancing universal digital connectivity.

      (ii) He highlighted Aadhaar’s impact, providing over 950 million citizens with secure digital identity for seamless access to public and private services.

(iii) He urged BRICS member nations to enhance collaboration in leveraging DPI to foster inclusive development and build robust digital economies.
