Air India and Icelandair Sign Codeshare Agreement to Strengthen India-Europe Air Connectivity.

In June 2025, Air India (Tata Group-owned, based in New Delhi) and Icelandair (based in Reykjavik, Iceland) signed a codeshare agreement to boost air connectivity between India and Europe via Iceland.
- The agreement was announced by Air India CEO & MD Campbell Wilson during the 81st Annual General Meeting of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) held in New Delhi.
- The agreement covers 15 travel routes across India and Europe, enhancing ease of travel and accessibility for passengers on both sides.
- The partnership offers flexibility, seamless connections, unified baggage allowances, and improved connectivity through major European hub airports.
Main Point :- (i) Air India customers can now book Icelandair-operated flights from Reykjavik to major cities including London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Milan, and Zurich, all under Air India’s 'AI' flight code.
(ii) Icelandair customers can access Air India-operated flights from Delhi to Amsterdam, Paris, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, and London Heathrow, and from Mumbai to Frankfurt and London Heathrow, under Icelandair’s 'FI' flight code.
(iii) The collaboration is expected to strengthen tourism, business, and trade ties between India and Iceland, positioning Reykjavik as a new gateway to Europe for Indian travelers.
