Telangana and Japan’s Kitakyushu City Sign MoU to Advance Sustainable Development Initiatives.
MOUs and Agreement
In June 2025, the Government of Telangana signed a cooperative agreement with Kitakyushu City, Japan, aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas such as inclusive economic growth, zero-emission initiatives, and urban innovation.
- The agreement was signed during the Telangana Formation Day celebrations held in Hyderabad, in the presence of Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Kitakyushu Mayor Kazuhisa Takeuchi.
Main Point :- (i) Drawing inspiration from Kitakyushu's transformation from an industrially polluted area to a model eco-city, Telangana plans to develop an 80-acre eco-town in Hyderabad.
(ii) The project will emphasize circular economy practices, waste management, and advanced recycling technologies.
(iii) The state will collaborate with Kitakyushu to apply its expertise in riverfront development and environmental conservation as part of the Musi River rejuvenation project, promoting sustainable urban water management.
