Himachal Pradesh CM Unveils Van Samvardhan Yojana and Green Adoption Scheme to Boost Environmental Conservation.

Goverment Scheme

On June 2, 2025, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched two key environmental initiatives — the Rajiv Gandhi Van Samvardhan Yojana (RGVSY) and the Green Adoption Scheme — in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, aimed at expanding green cover and fostering community-driven afforestation.

      - As part of the launch, CM Sukhu released a special souvenir titled 'Samvaad' dedicated to Van Mitras. Under the RGVSY scheme, he awarded certificates to two Mahila Mandals from Nadaun-Amlehad and Bhawdan, who will each undertake plantation on two hectares of forest land, maintaining it for five years.

      - The scheme actively engages Mahila Mandals, Yuvak Mandals, and Self Help Groups (SHGs) in afforestation efforts.

Main Point :-   (i) In the first phase of the Green Adoption Scheme, Ambuja Group will manage plantation on 25 hectares, while Adani Foundation and Ultratech will adopt 10 hectares each.

(ii) This initiative encourages corporate houses, private enterprises, and NGOs to adopt barren forest lands and support afforestation as part of their social responsibility.
