The United Nations (UN) annually observes the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression on June 4 to raise awareness and promote actions that protect the rights and well-being of children affected by war, conflict, and abuse worldwide.


      - Originally, this day focused on the Lebanese and Palestinian children impacted during the 1982 Lebanon War, particularly due to Israeli aggression.

      - Over time, the observance has expanded to include all children suffering from conflict and violence globally.

      - The year 2025 marks the 43rd anniversary of this important observance.

Main Point :-   (i) On August 19, 1982, during its 7th Emergency Special Session, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted resolution A/RES/ES-7/8, declaring June 4 of each year as the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression.

      (ii) The first official observance took place on June 4, 1983.
