IPL 2025: RCB Clinch Maiden Title After 18-Year Wait with Victory Over PBKS.

On June 3, 2025, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title by defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 6 runs in the final held at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.


      - RCB posted a competitive total of 190/9 in 20 overs, with Virat Kohli contributing 43 runs off 35 balls. In response, PBKS managed 184/7, falling short despite a valiant 61-run knock from Shashank Singh off 30 balls.

      - RCB all-rounder Krunal Pandya was named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance in the final, becoming the first player to win this award in two IPL finals, having previously earned it for Mumbai Indians in 2017.

     

Main Point :-   (i) The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a franchise-based Twenty20 (T20) cricket league held annually in India, organized by the Mumbai-based Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The IPL Governing Council, currently chaired by Arun Dhumal, oversees the league’s operations.

      (ii) The 18th season of IPL, branded as TATA IPL 2025, took place from March 22 to June 3, 2025.

(iii) Domestic digital broadcasting rights for the IPL are held by JioHotstar, a platform formed by the merger of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar.
