India delivered a strong performance at the 26th Asian Athletics Championships 2025, securing second place in the overall medal tally with a total of 24 medals, comprising 8 gold, 10 silver, and 6 bronze.
- China emerged at the top of the standings with 32 medals, including 19 gold, 9 silver, and 4 bronze.
- The championship was held from May 27 to 31, 2025, at the Gumi Civic Stadium, Gumi, South Korea, and was organized by the Asian Athletics Association (AAA), headquartered in Pathum Thani, Thailand.
Main Point :- (i) Gulveer Singh made headlines by clinching gold in both the men’s 10,000m and 5,000m events, showcasing his dominance in long-distance running.
(ii) Avinash Sable ended India’s 36-year drought by winning gold in the men’s 3000m steeplechase, marking a historic victory for the country.
(iii) Tejaswin Shankar bagged silver in the men’s decathlon, becoming the first Indian athlete to win two medals in this event at the Asian Athletics Championships.
