K. Prathapa Reddy Appointed as Chairman of Telangana Grameena Bank Following One-State-One-RRB Merger.

Appointment

In May 2025, K. Prathapa Reddy was appointed as the new Chairman of Telangana Grameena Bank (TGB) for a period of three years, succeeding Y. Sobha.


      - He is a science graduate and a seasoned professional banker with over 20 years of experience at the State Bank of India (SBI).

      - Before this appointment, he served as the Deputy General Manager (DGM) at SBI, showcasing his senior leadership capabilities.

      - He also served as the Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Grameena Vikas Bank (APGVB) in Warangal (Telangana) for two years, adding to his rural banking expertise.

Main Point :-   (i) On 1st January 2025, TGB was restructured by merging the original TGB with the Telangana operations of APGVB, forming a unified Regional Rural Bank (RRB).

      (ii) With this merger, Telangana became the first state in India to implement the ‘One State One RRB’ framework under the sponsorship of SBI.
