DRDO's ARDE Signs Licensing Pact with NIBE Limited for Pinaka MBRL and Brake Composite Parts (BCP).

In May 2025, Pune (Maharashtra)-based Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE), a unit of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), signed a Licensing Agreement for Transfer of Technology (LATOT) with Pune-based NIBE Limited for the production of the Pinaka Multi Barrel Rocket Launcher (MBRL) and the Battery Command Post (BCP).


      - This strategic agreement aims to strengthen the indigenous defence manufacturing ecosystem by enhancing industrial capabilities in advanced weapon systems.

      - The Pinaka MBRL is an advanced indirect fire weapon system capable of neutralizing aerial and surface targets with high precision and rapid response.

      - It is named after ‘Pinak’, the divine bow of Lord Shiva, and has been inducted into the Indian Army (IA) to replace the Russian-made Grad BM-21 rocket launcher.

Main Point :-   (i) VEM Technologies Private Limited, based in Hyderabad (Telangana), successfully handed over the first centre fuselage assembly of the indigenously developed Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas Mk 1A to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) at an event in Hyderabad.

      (ii) This delivery is a significant milestone in establishing the fourth production line for LCA Mk 1A, in addition to existing production lines at HAL-Bengaluru (Karnataka) and HAL-Nashik (Maharashtra).
