President Droupadi Murmu Presents National Florence Nightingale Awards 2025 to 15 Distinguished Nursing Professionals.

On 30th May 2025, the Hon’ble President of India, Droupadi Murmu, presented the National Florence Nightingale Awards 2025 to 15 exemplary nursing professionals during a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi. These awards honoured their exceptional dedication and contribution to strengthening public healthcare delivery across the nation.
- The event was graced by the presence of Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, Minister of State (MoS) Prataprao Jadhav, and MoS Anupriya Patel from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).
- The National Florence Nightingale Awards were instituted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, in 1973 to recognize the dedication and exceptional service of nursing professionals across the country.
- These awards are given annually to Registered Nurses, Midwives, Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), and Lady Health Visitors (LHVs) from various States, Union Territories (UTs), and voluntary organizations.
Main Point :- (i) Each recipient is honoured with a Certificate of Merit, a medal, and a cash prize of ₹1,00,000, as a token of national appreciation.
(ii) Florence Nightingale (1820–1910), the founder of modern nursing, was known for her work during the Crimean War and for founding the first scientific nursing school at St. Thomas’ Hospital in London.
(iii) The 15 awardees in 2025 included ANMs from Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, DNHDD, Lakshadweep, Maharashtra; LHVs from Assam; and Registered Nurses from Arunachal Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Manipur, Mizoram, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal.
