IndiGo Names Vikram Singh Mehta as New Chairman.

Appointment

In May 2025, Gurgaon-based InterGlobe Aviation Limited (IndiGo), India’s largest airline, appointed Vikram Singh Mehta as the new Chairman of its Board.


      - Vikram Singh Mehta has been a board member of InterGlobe Aviation since May 2022 and succeeded Venkataramani Sumantran, who completed his five-year tenure in May 2025.

      - Vikram Singh Mehta started his career with the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 1978.

      - He served as Chairman of Shell Group of Companies in India (1994-2012) and was CEO of Shell Markets and Shell Chemicals in Egypt.

Main Point :-   (i) Vikram Singh Mehta has held board positions at major companies including Colgate Palmolive India, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, and Larsen & Toubro Limited.

      (ii) Currently, he chairs the Centre for Social and Economic Progress and has previously been Executive Chairman of Brookings India; he has received awards like Asia House’s ‘Businessman of the Year’ (2010) and Asia Centre’s ‘Best Independent Director’ (2016).
