Sadhguru Honoured with 'Global Indian of the Year 2025' Award by CIF.

In May 2025, spiritual leader and Founder of Isha Foundation, Jagadish "Jaggi" Vasudev, popularly known as Sadhguru, was conferred the 'Global Indian of the Year 2025' award by the Canada India Foundation (CIF), a Canada-based Non-Profit Organisation (NPO). The award ceremony was held in Toronto, Canada. The award was presented by Ritesh Malik, Chairperson of CIF, and Sunita Vyas, National Convenor of CIF.


      - The Global Indian of the Year award recognises individuals of Indian origin who have made a global impact through their contributions and work.

      - Sadhguru received a cash prize of CAD 50,000, which he dedicated to the Cauvery Calling initiative, aimed at revitalising the Cauvery River and improving the livelihoods of 84 million people in Southern India.

     

Main Point :-   (i) The award, initially announced in October 2024, honours Sadhguru’s contributions to elevating human consciousness and ecological sustainability, particularly through the Conscious Planet (CP) movement.

      (ii) Sadhguru has been teaching yoga since 1982, and his Isha Foundation, founded in 1992 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, is involved in spiritual, educational, and environmental initiatives.

(iii) Notably, past recipients of the CIF Global Indian Award include distinguished figures such as Ratan Tata, Narayana Murthy, and Sudha Murty.
